they work as intended

the wings of the screen are prone to squishing inward during installation/removal which is why they seem to be so hit or miss at staying in the cap. a simple user fix is to use a screwdriver/tool to slip between the wing and the screen and give it a little push outwards followed by reflattening the screen with the roller.
